Touted as the best Dallas suburb to “live the good life” by Money Magazine, Rockwall is located on the eastern shore of Lake Ray Hubbard. With a vibrant downtown district and a chic Harbor District right off Lake Ray Hubbard, Rockwall is a destination for North Texas locals. A small-town vibe with a distinct slower pace of life is a welcome contrast to urban Dallas just 25 miles away heading west.
From May through October, Rockwall lives up to its “Free Live Music Capital of North Texas” reputation with live music in San Jacinto Plaza. In most months, outdoor activities on and near the lake are where time is generously spent. There is a strong sense of community and support of their highly rated schools with only 2 high schools. Despite its small city, Rockwall has a definite foodie scene.
Zanata’s offers amazing Italian cuisine in downtown Rockwall. Grab a delectable burger at the rancher owned and operated Wells Cattle Co. or a wood-fired steak at Bin 303. Enjoy the live music scene either downtown, at the Harbor or various establishments like Sideway barbecue or The Roundabout British pub. Sailing and boat rides on the lake during the day or night are spectacular.
Shop downtown for hometown boutiques like the Kitschy Cupboard, Hazel and Olive, or Southern Roots TX. Head to the Plaza at Rockwall for large chain stores like HomeGoods and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
In May, head to the Farmers Lavender Co. for lavender infused products like soaps, coffee, tea, and more.
Year-round family entertainment warrants a visit to Shenaniganz with everything from bowling, axe throwing, escape rooms, and virtual reality experiences. Pick your own blueberries in the summer or visit the pumpkin patch in the Fall at Blasé Family Farm. Indulge in award winning wines at the San Martino Winery and Vineyards. Take a tranquil stroll around the Harbor and Lighthouse. For outdoor action, hike or bike the Squabble Creek Mountain Bike Trail with a picnic break. The Harry Myers Disc Golf Course, ranked as one of the best in the state, is an 18-basket course that winds through dense trees and prairie land. There is a great Cinco de Mayo celebration in May and the Hometown Christmas Celebration in downtown Rockwall. Still, life in Rockwall is all about a serene and tranquil lifestyle that starts with Lake Ray Hubbard and its stunning lake views.
